Play Date Cafe Challenge 105

Happy Halloween everyone!  Trick or Treat?  Today I decided to give myself a little treat by playing along with this week's Play Date Cafe color challenge.  The color story this week is to use Kraft/Taupe, Flesh, and Cadet Blue.  Using the current sketch from The Card Positioning Blog I started off my card with a base of Crumb Cake cardstock, and matted some flesh tone patterned paper to it.  I then sewed around the edges and adhered some lace to the bottom.  For my sentiment I used a stamp from a Clear Art Stamps set called, "Sweet Kids", which I stamped in some Crumb Cake ink and cut out using some Spellbinders.  I then added a bow made from seam binding and adhered a button which I ran some bakers twine thru.  I was fine up until this point.  What I seemed to struggle with was balancing the card out.  Do you ever see projects that have a lot going on, on one side while the other side is screaming for some attention?  My card  was really left side heavy so I tried to balance it out by adding a photo corner, then I tried a piece of chipboard, then a flourish, but finally ended up using some half backed pearls.  That does it for this card.  I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.  Thanks for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 68

Hello everyone!  Are you ready for another challenge from The Papercraft Star!  This week is a sketch challenge from the very talented Kim.  This is such a fun sketch, I decided to make a Christmas card.  I just saw the circles and the image of a poinsettia wreath come to mind.  I started with some butter cream cardstock distressed with vintage photo distress ink and matted a piece of patterned paper from Graphic 45.  I paired the patterned paper with this darling music sheet from our sponsor The House Across The Bay.  I thought this image worked so well with the Graphic 45 Christmas line.  The image and sentiment is from Verve.  The gorgeous seam binding is from Paper Loves Glue etsy shop!  Another Christmas card under my belt and only like 39,475,013,496,813,490 more to go.  Well it feels that way.  I hope to see your creations!  Just link up by Monday 6 a.m. EST for your chance to win some digital downloads. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week.

Papercraft Star Challenge 67

Hello everyone, today opens a new challenge over at the Papercraft Star!  This week is Trick or Treat!  For my project I choose treat.   I altered a mini craft bakery bag from Taylored Expressions.  I first covered it with patterned paper from Stampin Up.  For my embellishments I used images from our sponsor The House Across the Bay called Animals in Advertising 120.  I absolutely love this group of images!  I used two of the three cats in this group.  The first one I framed using a MFT postage frame die that I glittered using chunky black glitter.  Doesn't that look like a scaredy cat!  The sentiment is from Pink Paisley which I glittered using some stickles.  The purple flourish is from Tim Holtz and the bats were punched using a Martha Stewart punch.  The spider web border punch is also from Martha Stewart.  A little tulle wrapped around the bag and a skull button finish my treat bag.  The black cats from the digi sheets are so super cute I used one as a topper for my cupcake treat!  I think my little ones would love to get this treat bag for Halloween.  What a fun challenge I'd love to see what everyone creates!  For more inspiration don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects!  Remember to link up your projects before Monday 6:00 a.m EST for a chance to win some digi images from our sponsor The House Across The Bay!

A Sweet Hello

Here's my Play Date Cafe challenge entry.  This week's colors are Rust, Storm, and Deep Sea.  As usual the design team has some beautiful inspiration projects, which made me see how lovely these colors actually are together.  I made a simple card for this challenge, or at least my idea of a clean and simple card.  I started out with a base of Sahara Sand cardstock.  I then added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with some teal seam binding.  I made a simple bow and adhered a paper flower to the center.  The bling flourishes are from American Crafts and the leaves were punched from a Martha Stewart punch.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things stamped on to some Very Vanilla and punched with a SU word window punch.  That's really all there is to this card.  I have to say this is one of my favs!  Thank you Play Date Cafe for such a beautiful color story this week!  Hope everyone has a good week and thank you for stopping by:-)

Papercraft Star Challenge 66

It's that time again!  Today opens another challenge over at the Papercraft Star!  This week is Fall inspired. Use the picture as inspiration and include a leaf.  For my card I used a background from our sponsor The House Across The Bay.  I just loved how the scroll work coordinated with a stamp set I had from Waltzingmouse stamps.  I die cut the scroll frame using some Spellbinders, and popped it up using pop up dots.  The "Autumn" is from a stamp set from Stampin Up.  I added a ribbon and a jeweled leaf to finish my card.  I hope you 'll have a chance to play along this week for a chance to win some downloads from our sponsor!  Just link up before Monday 6:00 a.m.  EST.

Fabulous

Hello everyone!  Welcome to another Papercraft Star Challenge!  This week's challenge is a color challenge with a beautiful color combo!  You can choose to use two, three, or all four colors in your projects.  I decided to stick with the two cooler colors of Sky Blue, and Purple.  For my card today I used an image that was offered as a freebie a few weeks ago.  Are you taking advantage of those fabulous images offered every Tuesday from our sponsor The House Across The Bay?  What a great way to try out digital images.  The image on my card was in a black and white color scheme which I printed out, and colored with some Prisma Colors.  The background is also from The House Across The Bay called Crayola Backgrounds 024.  For this digi, I opened the digital file in my Photoshop and changed the hue of the purple.  I like being able to slightly alter these images and keep the grunge details.  I embossed my background and adhered my sentiment on top of both the background and image.  A little handmade rick rack flower finishes my card.  I hope you have a little time to play along this week!  Just link up your project before Monday 6:00 a.m. EST, for a chance to win!

Autumn

Just another quick post.  I've had this card sitting on my table for a few days now.  I just needed some time to decide if I like it.  The colors for CR84FN 39 challenge are orange, yellow,  and brown.  For my card I used papers from a Bo Bunny paper pack.  I used Very Vanilla as my base and adhered some of the Bo Bunny patterned paper from the Timepiece Collection 6"x 6" paper pack.  The sentiment is stamped on another piece from the pack and embossed using vanilla embossing powder.  Some ribbon and crochet lace down the side with a felt flower and leaves embellishment accent the Autumn sentiment.  I then added a pumpkin stamped with rich cocoa on vanilla cardstock, which I colored with my prisma colors.  That does it for my Autumn card.  Thank you for taking a look.

Happy Holidays

Oh Play Date Cafe it's been too long.  It's be quite a while since I've been able to play over at the Play Date Cafe, but I just had to join in this go round!  How stunning are the color choices this week?  I used some paper from Graphic 45 that I thought would go great with this challenge.  I am not usually drawn to the colors of wine, smudge, leather, and parchment, but the design team did an amazing job, I was totally inspired!  For my card I used the sketch from Random Acts of Creativity, Sketchbook Saturday challenge, but sadly I too forgot to use the felt suggestion on the sketch.  I think it came out just fine though.  I used some Soft Suede cardstock as my base and adhered three strips of patterned papers from Graphic 45.  I ran a zig zag stitch around each strip and added postcard element, along with the sentiment, included in the Christmas Emporium paper pack.  The stamped image is from Crafty secrets which I stamped on some naturals cardstock from SU and colored with some prisma colors.  Another Christmas card down and I'm on a roll!  Hope everyone has a great week and I'll be back tomorrow with a new Papercraft Star Challenge!  Thanks for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 64 lace!

Hello everyone and Happy World Card Making Day!  I hope everyone is having some fun, and taking some time out to get a little card making done.  I myself plan on getting a start on some Christmas cards.  If you are undecided as to what to create don't forget there is still time to enter your project over at the Papercraft Star!  This week's challenge is "lace".  Use lace in your project and link it up by 6 a.m. EST on Monday for a chance to win some downloads from our sponsor The House Across The Bay.  This week we had a inspiration photo that I just love.  Do you see the bag in the photo?  How pretty is that bag?!?!  I thought I'd take a stab at making one myself.  I once worked in a fabric store so I have accumulated a lot of fabric and trims.  I used only what I had on hand to make my bag.  I think it turned out just fine.  Well remember there's still time to enter the "lace" challenge and I'd love to see what you create!  Thank you for stopping by.
